Where is the harm in being called a Bihari? In Indian philosophy, the bihari is the traveller and is a popular middle name as in Bijon bihari (wanderer in the forest meaning a wise man), bonobihari signifying an angel who lives in the forest, and so on. Bihari is a nice name but unfortunately associated with poor migrants or street smart students.

There is no matter of changing name of bihar at all, i am 100% disagree with u guys, because i m from Bihar and it can not possible to change my name or my state name. Is like same as changing your name after 20 years of your age?
And this the most stupid question who ever started all these nounscence. Even the condition of Bihar is not good, but still i a m proud Bihari that in every exam of india as well as world our State is leader. Therefore i am completely disagree with your comments.

I wonder, why the change in name is required? What value addition it will do?
and moreover, how come people get time to think on non-productive issues and not concentrating improving the basic condition??? With this mindset, we are not going to help ourselves.

But who we are to suggest to the people of Bihar to do this or that? Let the people of Bihar discuss and decide. Bihar is not a bad name nor imported by britishers the way they changed other names.Â

A rose with any name will sell the same. What is the difference between Bombay & Mumbai, Madras & Chennai or Calcutta & Kolkata.
I would suggest try to work to change the attitude, the work culture and many negative traditions which are hampering on the path of development. And for that "you should be the change you want to see in the world" in this case Bihar- quotation from internet.
So let us first share what we think should be and should not be in the state of Bihar. There are many things which need urgent attention by the people and by the govt. I will talk about education.
Education is very important. You go to any university in India and you will see a student from Bihar is on top and if not on top among T20 (top-20). Why students have to leave Bihar to get educated in other parts of the country.
There is no central university in Bihar. There is no institutes like IIT in Bihar There is no access to quality education to all. There is no ...
Nitish Kumar government set up Common School System Commission under the chairmanship of Prof. Muchkund Dubey.
